Passaic County Strategic Infrastructure Investment Plan
About the Plan
Passaic County is undertaking a study to identify priority areas for infrastructure investment with the goal of creating more economically competitive, equitable and sustainable communities. The study will result in the creation of a Passaic County Strategic Infrastructure Investment Plan, which will identify Priority Investment Areas (PIAs) that could benefit from transportation infrastructure improvements.
Public engagement is critical to this plan. Residents, business owners and other stakeholders will have an opportunity to provide input that will help Passaic County select five to ten PIAs.
Passaic County is conducting this planning study with funding from the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority’s Subregional Studies Program. This study will be completed in June 2024
Plan Goals
The Passaic County Infrastructure Investment Plan will:
Develop strategic priorities surrounding existing and proposed transportation infrastructure to create more economically competitive, equitable, and sustainable communities.
Identify Priority Investment Areas (PIAs) for transportation and economic improvements using quantitative and qualitative data analysis consisting of economic, demographic, travel, and other data.
Consider strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that could be addressed through coordinated transportation infrastructure investments for the entire county.
Take an equitable approach by avoiding recommendations that may have disproportionally high and adverse effects and by reducing/eliminating hindrances to meaningful participation in the planning process.
Engage with the business sector, local municipalities, focus groups, and public stakeholders for input to guide the development of the Plan.
Recommend transportation investment strategies that can maximize the return and value of transportation infrastructure projects in the PIAs and:
- Improve multimodal travel, bicycle and pedestrian connectivity, safety, and/or sustainability;
- Address roadway needs; or
- Promote economic development and job creation.
